Just Cause developer Avalanche Studios believes that the Xbox One's online features will allow for more connected gameplay experiences, like Journey or The Walking Dead.

Avalanche Studios impressed millions of gamers with the great Just Cause 2 open world experience and, even if it didn't implement a multiplayer mode in that title, the developer is looking forward to the Xbox One's online feature set.

According to Avalanche's Christofer Sundberg, the Xbox One places a big emphasis on connectivity, which in turn will certain result in better gameplay in all sorts of titles, especially open world ones.

"More connectivity is obviously fantastic. It enables us to develop online features that enhances the open world gaming experience without limiting players by having to stay connected," Sundberg told Edge.

The Avalanche Creative Director highlighted successful examples of connected gameplay, confirming that both Journey and The Walking Dead excelled in different ways.

"I think Journey and The Walking Dead were great examples on how to use connectivity to make the experience more interesting, with the anonymous connection to other players in Journey and the decision feedback in The Walking Dead."

Sundberg also admitted that Avalanche didn't make good choices in terms of Just Cause 2 but that it's learned a lot while working on upcoming titles.

"We were a little late using all the fun metrics we’ve gathered from Just Cause 2, to make the game better and interesting for our fans, but in futures game we are using player patterns to a larger extent."

Avalanche is currently rumored to be preparing Just Cause 3, a new open world experience that's set to appear for next generation consoles, and has teased the title on multiple occasions.

The game is probably going to appear at E3 2013 later this month but, until then, the studio is keeping its projects under a veil of secrecy.
