The newest update for Xbox Music application for Windows Phone devices has come out of nowhere. We were expecting the update to arrive as early as tomorrow, but it looks like the folks at Microsoft have worked hard to bring Windows Phone users the new version of Xbox Music one day earlier.

Although usually the Xbox Music Team announces what things they plan to fix or what new features they will add in the next version of the application, it’s almost certain that they will bring something else into the mix as well.

Given the fact that these are things that developers are looking to provide Xbox Music users with in the future, it’s perfectly fine to add them in any order they like as long as it doesn’t takes too long, of course.

Anyway, it appears that Xbox Music for Windows Phone has been bumped to version 2.5.3991.0, so let’s see what you can find in the new version.

First of all, developers have confirmed the application is now slightly faster to resume and browse in the menus. This is a very welcome improvement, as many users complained Xbox Music was incredibly slow on their devices.

The Xbox Music Team has also added a small feature that would offer users a more useful error message when the application can’t play a certain song. This is another great tweak that would make the application even more streamlined and smoother.

Developers also claim that, thanks to the latest update, they will now be able to handle connectivity states better. Some stability improvements when scrolling lists and launching Xbox Music from Cortana have been included in the update as well.

Long-time users will also notice that, after this update, content begins syncing in the background following future updates for Xbox Music.

Last but not least, devs have fixed a bug where album art didn’t show up for playlist songs that were not in user’s collection. This is another annoying bug that gets removed from the list of issues that need to be addressed in future updates.

Those who already have the application installed on their devices should manually check for the update in the Windows Phone Store.

New users can now download Xbox Music for Windows Phone 2.5.3991.0 for free via Windows Phone Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Windows Phone 8.1 and up (no support for Windows Phone 8 for this version).
