In addition to Xbox Video, Microsoft also put up for grabs a free Xbox Music client for Windows Phone 8 devices out there.

Available for all those who have an Xbox Music Pass, the application will provide them with access to the latest and greatest Xbox Music features, straight from the screen of their handsets.

“With the Xbox Music app and your Xbox Music Pass you can explore, stream and download millions of songs on your device. It’s the best way to get all the music you love on your Windows Phone,” the application’s description reads.

The software will provide users with access to artist details with pictures, bios, album lists, and related artists, as well as with the possibility to discover top songs, featured artists, and recommended albums to easily discover new music.

Moreover, it enables them to manage their personal music collection, shared across all of their devices, and to download favorite songs for offline playback.

Additionally, the mobile client comes with the possibility to create and manage playlists that can then be synced across the PC, tablet, Xbox, and the web.

Xbox Music will offer playlists that have been created based on users favorite artists, and it will allow them to stream ad-free music from a catalog of tens of millions of songs.

As can be seen from the aforementioned features, Microsoft has been focusing on the cloud with this release, the same as it did with the Xbox Video application for Windows Phone 8.

However, as The Verge notes, the application is currently labeled as a preview, though it signals Microsoft’s intent to separate the music service from its mobile platform with the release of Windows Phone 8.1 next year (it is integrated in the OS at the moment).

Currently available as version 1.5.2720.0, Xbox Music for Windows Phone 8 can be downloaded through the Windows Phone Store.
