Microsoft has confirmed that it's going to operate some changes to the Xbox Live Rewards program on September 1, following the upcoming change from virtual MS Points to real-world currency on the Xbox Live online services.

Many Xbox 360 owners are eagerly awaiting to switch from the oft-criticized MS Points virtual currency used by Microsoft on its Xbox Live Marketplace to real-world money.

Now, ahead of that big change, Microsoft has confirmed that it's going to transform its Xbox Live Rewards scheme so that it can offer prizes in real-world money instead of the current MS Points.

"With all these changes, it’s become necessary for us to evolve the way we reward you. Starting August 1, 2013, you will not be able to earn Microsoft Points through Xbox Live Rewards any longer. Not to worry, though! Since this currency change is impacting the structure of the program, we’re taking the opportunity to make Xbox Live Rewards even better," the company said on its website.

On August 7, Microsoft will deposit all the pending Rewards points into the accounts of its members, even if they're less than 100.
