A brand new report has surfaced online claiming that Microsoft might finally remove the necessity of an Xbox Live Gold subscription in order to access streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Instant Video.

The Xbox Live Gold membership has caused a notorious debate in the gaming world, as Microsoft requires such a subscription in order to access the multiplayer of games on Xbox 360 or Xbox One, but also almost all services that deal with online features, from streaming apps like Netflix or Hulu, to even basic system mechanics like Internet Explorer.

Now, however, it seems that Microsoft might finally relax this policy in the near future, according to a report from ArsTechnica.

The website cites multiple sources about a possible elimination of the Gold membership requirement for streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Instant Video, and more.

However, the report also claims that Microsoft might force Gold subscription for other existing services or for upcoming content like the Xbox Originals project.

As of yet, this is still a rumor so take it with a grain of salt, especially since Microsoft always brags about the quality of its online services that's possible only using the money from the Gold subscriptions.
