"Security is a top priority for Xbox live..." Yet reports have been registered for months.

It's not the first time it's been reported, you know? Xboxers have been reporting these incidents for some time in online forums and even on Xbox.com. They've also tried seeking help at Microsoft's Xbox help desk, as their XBLA accounts had been hijacked and all their virtual money (Microsoft Points - the currency in the XBLA service) had been stolen. Microsoft has yet to respond to these complaints. But they've gained knowledge of this and responded...verbally:

"Recently, there have been reports of fraudulent activity and account theft taking place on the Xbox Live network," a Microsoft representative told c|net News.com. "Security is a top priority for Xbox Live, and we are actively investigating all reports of fraudulent behavior and theft."

Well, of course security is a top priority for Microsoft's Xbox Live service. Security is a top priority for everyone, for Christ's sake! How about really saying something after they'd done some digging up and found out who's responsible? Or maybe after they'd found out it's all a hoax. Who knows? Maybe it is. Anything would be much more enlightening and assuring than saying that security is a top priority for them.

c|net posted a rather funny comment coming from an XBLA user,. He/she wrote on the Xbox Web site last month: "My Xbox Live account was hacked and all credit card info was stolen and used to run up points...Microsoft says: 'Oh, well, better call your credit card companies, nothing we can do." It's not that far from the truth, considering Microsoft's commitment and attitude towards security issues that they have as top priorities.
