A brand new report says that Microsoft might be set to unveil a brand new TV subscription service for its Xbox 360 console, which adds a new tier to its Xbox Live membership program, called Diamond.

Microsoft is getting ready to debut some huge things at the E3 2011 conference later today, and one of the biggest might have just been spoiled by WinRumors.

The website claims that the North American corporation is planning to present a special Xbox Live subscription TV service at E3, which is going to add a new layer to the existing Xbox Live subscription program, called Diamond.

The service will be similar to the partnership Microsoft has with Sky in the UK, allowing owners of Xbox 360 consoles to watch sports games or other content streamed directly to their console.

The website does mention that Microsoft is still finishing up last minute partnerships, in order to ensure that the announcement of the Diamond TV service will properly impress attendants of its E3 2011 press conference.

Such a service might not be out of the question, as Microsoft itself highlighted last week that it's building its entertainment strategy around the Xbox 360, and that, through partnership with services like Netflix or Hulu, as well as with TV channels like ESPN, it's making sure that the console has the most important entertainment role in a household.

If the company is going to bundle in a TV subscription service, then the console would be one step closer to becoming a proper entertainment hub for all the family.

As of yet, it's unclear if the service is going to be made available to other territories besides North America, as that would require Microsoft to strike partnerships in practically each country its Xbox Live service is active.

Expect more details about this rumored feature later today, when Microsoft is going to hold its regular pre-E3 press conference.
