Microsoft wants to expand the Xbox gaming experience onto the Windows operating system, both when it comes to PCs but also on mobile devices like smartphones or tablets, at least according to a new job listing posted by the large corporation.

Ever since the announcement of the Windows 10 operating system, Microsoft has touted that the software will arrive across all of its devices, from PCs, to the Xbox One, and even Windows Phone smartphones and tablets.

This cross-device platform leaves the door open to plenty of interesting things, but right now, Microsoft is keeping things quiet. The corporation has already relayed through the voice of its Xbox boss Phil Spencer that a special conference, that will deal with the future of the Xbox experience and the PC platform, will be held at the end of January.

A new job listing hints at a massive expansion onto PC via SmartGlass

Now, via DualShockers, a special Microsoft job listing has just been uncovered, and it more or less spells out the future plans of the upcoming corporation.

The opening is for a Software engineer, and Microsoft presents the job as one that will be instrumental in helping the Xbox experience expand onto the Windows operating system via the SmartGlass application.

In case you forgot, SmartGlass acts as a companion service to the Xbox One console right now, showcasing other information about games, but also acting as an enhancement for those who use the device to consume entertainment and other things.

"Do you love Xbox and PC gaming? Do you want to work on something fun? Come join an awesome team and be part of expanding the Xbox experience on Windows. With your help we can build the experience you want as a gamer on Windows and Windows Phone," the listing says.

"The Xbox Experiences team is looking for an excellent Software Engineer to join the team responsible for Xbox SmartGlass as we amp up the volume. We are looking for folks with solid skills and the drive to create an unparalleled experience increasing the reach of Xbox."

Those who get the job will have to create and implement new experiences that Xbox users and PC gamers alike will get to enjoy every day, according to the listing. Of course, the company also mentions that it wants to listen to fans, so those who apply shouldn't be swayed by changes to the goals or tasks.

Nothing is spelled out by Microsoft, but it's looking ever so likely that PC owners will soon get to experience some more Xbox advantages in the future, probably when Windows 10 gets fully launched.
