A brand new Xbox 720 report has appeared on the web, this time claiming that the next generation console will also work as a set-top box, as it's able to display TV content and change the way it's consumed by adding extra features and using its next Kinect iteration.

The Xbox 720 isn't official, as Microsoft still isn't commenting on its next-gen console, but this hasn't stopped rumors from appearing on the web.

The latest appears from The Verge, which claims that the next Xbox can work as a set-top box by taking a cable signal via HDMI and outputting it on the TV, alongside a host of other features, like a user interface, not to mention new things thanks to Microsoft's partnerships with content providers.

What's more, the next Xbox will employ its Kinect sensor to automatically pause or interact with the TV content being streamed, such as pausing it when it detects that one person's isn't directly looking at the TV.

The report also confirms that the next Xbox requires a constant internet connection in order to display content.
