A new Xbox 720 report has appeared on the web, this time with details about the console's revamped achievements system, the special anti-piracy measures it will use, and a new mechanic that allows gameplay footage to be recorded, edited, and uploaded online.

The Xbox 720 is set to be officially revealed on May 21, with Microsoft confirming a special event that'll be held at its Redmond, Washington campus.

Now, Polygon has posted a special report about the Xbox 720, with fresh info about the console's different systems.

First up is a special anti-piracy mechanic that allows game publishers to decide if their titles can be played without an internet connection, if they require a one-time check online, or if they can only be experienced when the console is connected.

Another system that will be opened up to developers and publishers is the achievements one. Games for the new console can see fresh achievements added after their release, without the necessity of players buying DLC.

What's more, companies can offer cross-title achievements, in order to reward loyalty to a franchise, a developer or publisher.

Cross-platform achievements are also support, although these require using companion applications and various other systems to determine if the achievement can be awarded to the player.

The Xbox 720 will also work in a similar way to a DVR (Digital Video Recorder), as it can automatically register gameplay footage, which can then be edited and uploaded to online websites like YouTube.

Last but not least, the Xbox Live online service will also be revamped, especially in terms of social interaction, as users will no longer be constrained by a limit on their number of friends.

Players can also follow each other, much like on Twitter or Facebook.

Microsoft has responded to the report and mentioned that, while it can't actually comment, everything will be revealed on May 21.
