Have you ever thought that just ONE title can change the fate of a console?

What do you think is the reason why I'm calling Microsoft's Xbox 360 a lucky console? Well, let's think about what brought the console its success, which isn't quite as big as the Wii's, but certainly a lot bigger than Sony's PS3. The main reason why some even buy a console sometimes is just an upcoming title exclusive for that very console. The 360 was very lucky to be the machine running Epic's Gears of War and that's not the title contributing the most to its success.

The title that brought and still brings popularity to the 360 making gamers buy the machine even before they can even play the damned thing is Halo3. The game series is a best-selling masterpiece of the Xbox game franchise, a FPS of the highest graphical and gameplay quality ever to be seen on screen, with a breath taking trailer (my guess, it's half the reason why gamers want it so bad, the other half being the previous Halo titles) and realistic movement of the character that astonishingly resemble those in real life. Plus, it's got a heck of a multiplayer mode and come to think of it, that too can count as part of the game's success.

Anyway, I don't have to tell you about Halo 3, chances are you know more about Halo 3 than I know about my girlfriend, given you're reading an article called Xbox 360-The lucky Console, but I think it's clear to everyone that the 360 is lucky to be the launching pad of Halo3. And if you're still asking why, your answer will be given if you ask this next question: exactly what title helped the PS3 gain its success? That's right, NONE. My guess is that the 360 would have been cell-mates with the PS3, hadn't it been for Halo.
