The Xbox 360 version of Minecraft is still the leading video game in the United Kingdom in terms of sales. This is the second week that the title has managed to keep the position and show the potential power of well managed indie experiences.

Minecraft is one of the few games launched on the Microsoft home console that get constant updates loaded with new content and features. That means that fans can continue playing it for long periods of time and might also convert others to the cause.

The Last of Us, the post-apocalyptic adventure from Naughty Dog, has managed a solid comeback from sixth place in order to land in second.

The last place on the podium is Animal Crossing: New Leaf, a game that managed to climb one position during the previous seven-day period, according to data from UKIE.

FIFA 13, the football simulation from EA Sports, is in fourth place, less than two months before the launch of its successor, and The Smurfs 2, the Ubisoft game based on the movie that’s now in theaters, is the first new entry in the United Kingdom.

Far Cry 3, the shooter from Ubisoft, managed to also jump one position when compared to the previous week and LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes is in seventh place.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, the FPS from Treyarch and Activision, is back in the top ten after the PC and the PS3 launch of the Vengeance DLC.

One more pack for the game is expected to arrive in late August.

Tomb Raider is glued to ninth place and Assassin’s Creed III is closing down the United Kingdom top ten, while Pikmin 3 has fallen from second directly to 15th.

The chart is unlikely to see a major shakeup until August 20 when Saints Row 4, Splinter Cell: Blacklist and The Bureau launch.
