Larry Hryb, the Xbox 360 community manager best known as Major Nelson, announces that starting with February 26 the Games on Demand service of the home console will launch a weeklong period of promotions.

Some video games will be available with a price cut of 85 percent, although the community manager is not yet ready to say exactly which ones were chosen.

The Games on Demand promotional period will include the Assasssin’s Credd series, Borderlands, Call of Duty, Dishonored, Resident Evil, Halo, Max Payne and more.

A full list is available on the official Major Nelson blog and daily deals will be announced via his official Twitter.

Games on Demand was promoted by Microsoft as an alternative to the physical disk retail model but the service is often criticized for its high prices, which tend to drive gamers away.
