The creators of Final Fantasy XIII, the Square Enix made role playing game that was launched earlier in the years, have confirmed that the game will not be getting any downloadable content while also saying that the Xbox 360 version of the title will arrive on December 16 on the Japanese market.

Motomu Toriyama, who is the game director for Final Fantasy XIII, told Japanese magazine Famitsu that, “We were planning to make some DLC, but that plan wound up not happening”.

He added that the team was sorry about the fact no downloadable content will be delivered for the role playing game and it seems that his earlier advice to gamers to keep saves from the end of the single player of Final Fantasy XIII is no longer applicable.

The Xbox 360 owners in Japan will get a chance to pick up the so called International Edition of Final Fantasy XIII, which means English voices for all character, subtitles in a variety of languages and some extra content, including a new easier game mode, a booklet filled with art concepts and scenes that were cut from the normal release of the game, some taking place after the end of the single player narrative.

Yoshinori Kitase, a producer on Final Fantasy XIII, justified the launch of the Xbox 360 version in Japan saying, “Because we feel that there are a lot of 360 owners worldwide, and a lot of people in Japan who own nothing but 360s. Thanks to the new system and such, the situation's a lot different than it was in July 2008.”

Final Fantasy XIII is the first game in the series to be multiplatform and Microsoft surprised a lot of people when it announced that the Japanese role playing game franchise would be coming to the Xbox 360.

At the moment Square Enix is working on the Final Fantasy XIV MMO, which is set to arrive on the PlayStation 3 and on the PC.
