Earlier in the year, Microsoft made quite a good move when it announced that it would package Resident Evil 5, the latest installment in the zombie shooter franchise from Capcom, with an Xbox 360 console, probably contributing to the title selling better on the Microsoft made gaming device than on the PlayStation 3 from Sony.

Now, the Redmond-based giant is preparing to bundle the gaming console with two other blockbusters. Thus, it has just announced that it plans to create an Xbox 360 Game of the Year bundle, which would contain a 120 GB hard drive Xbox 360 Elite and both Halo 3 and Fable II for the price of 399 dollars, the standard price of the Elite console.

Those who get the newly announced bundle will also receive one wireless controller, a wired headset, an HDMI cable, used to fully enjoy the beautiful graphics of the console and a free Netflix trial, through which players can get movies streamed directly to their consoles.

Microsoft has said that the Xbox 360 Game of the Year bundle will initially be released in May and that the offer will be limited, although the company has not mentioned how many of the bundles will be put on sale.

The software giant is probably trying to boost the sales of upcoming products through the new bundle. Halo 3 was released quite some time ago but it has just received the Mythical Map Pack DLC that is available exclusively on Xbox Live.

An expansion, called ODST, is also set to arrive later in 2009, the last product Bungie will create in the Halo universe. Fable II has received one DLC pack and another one is on the way. By practically giving away the original games, Microsoft is increasing the customer base that could be interested in getting new content for its titles after seeing what they are all about.
