One of the largest Linux distributors, Xandros has recently made public an agreement it had settled with NoMachine desktop virtualization company according to which the NX Enterprise Server offered by NoMachine will ship with the Xandros Server 2.0 operating system.

This is not the first collaboration of this kind between Xandros and NoMachines. The two companies are known to have been working together for several years, Xandros offering its full support for NoMachine's thin client. Also NoMachine expressed many times its interest in offering thin-client services through application servers and made other partnerships for that too. The partnership with Xandros aims at providing better enhanced capabilities for fast access to graphical applications from any OS across a network connection. According to the two companies, the product resulted between the Xandros-NoMachine joint should be able to provide network administrators the possibility to offer rapid application development through a single installation on the NX terminal server and then employees with access permission can immediately start to use the new applications or a complete thin-client remote desktop. As Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols mentions in his article on Linux-Watch.com, by keeping corporate data security and the applications on the server, this package will enhance application maintenance, data archiving and the securing of sensitive data. NoMachine is best known as the creator of the NX virtualization desktop. The NX software is an open source but for full support included NoMachine has a proprietary version.

The NoMachine officials showed themselves very pleased with the choice they've made with Xandros as Sarah Dryell, business development manager for NoMachine, stated:

"Xandros Server is the perfect partner for NoMachine to meet mixed Linux-Windows enterprise requirements for its ease of administration and outstanding cross-platform integration."

Andreas Typaldos, CEO of New York-based Xandros, also said:

"Many enterprise customers are implementing thin-client solutions, and we have found that NoMachine's NX Enterprise Server provides an open-source solution with near instantaneous access thanks to its outstanding compression and efficient resource management .Since NoMachine has an impressive list of clients, including Google, Nvidia, Lufthansa Airlines, Harvard and Stanford Universities, and the city of Munich, we are especially excited to be delivering the NX Enterprise Server with our Xandros Server products."
