Verizon Wireless announced recently that it will start sales of the XV6800 Pocket PC, which will be available starting this week online and through Verizon Wireless business sales. You won't be able to get it otherwise, until next week when it will be available through Verizon Wireless Communications Stores.

The Verizon Wireless XV6800 delivers powerful messaging and communications capabilities, including Windows Mobile 6 Professional, which provides instant access to the Internet, calendar and contacts, tasks, e-mail and much more. Also included are advanced phone features, such as a 2.0-megapixel camera with flash and video capture and support for Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents, as well as PDFs.

Designed for sophistication, the Verizon Wireless XV6800 lets customers take their office on the road and comes with a cleverly hidden, slide-out QWERTY keyboard and Bluetooth technology. Additional features of the XV6800 include 2.8-inch touch-screen (240 x 320 pixels resolution) with 65k colors support, built-in WiFi 802.11 b/g capability, microSD memory card slot with support up to 4 GB, Windows Media Player 10 Mobile, Bluetooth v 2.0 for mono and stereo headsets, hands-free, serial port and OBEX profiles.

As a business phone the new Verizon Wireless XV6800 doesn't make amends regarding sizes. The Pocket PC measures 4.3 by 2.3 by 0.7 inches in size and weighs exactly 5.8 ounces (battery included). The lithium ion battery provides up to 340 hours of standby time and more than 5 hours of usage time in GSM mode.

In addition to EV-DO access, Verizon Wireless customers have the benefit of using the XV6800 as a modem for notebooks when they subscribe to Verizon Wireless' BroadbandAccess Connect data service.

The Verizon Wireless XV6800 business phone can be purchased for $449.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and a new two-year customer agreement.
