Delayed due to software issues

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 is the second Xperia mobile phone the Japanese-Swedish handset vendor Sony Ericsson announced that it would come to the market with Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system on board. The device was unveiled officially quite a while ago, and was expected to arrive on the market last month or even earlier, yet it has been pushed back to early next year, it seems.

The main issue with the XPERIA X2 is reportedly related to its software, namely with some network specific applications that it should feature. Rumors on a possible delay of the mobile phone all the way to January next year already emerged into the wild, and now some sort of an official confirmation, along with the unveiling of a possible release window for the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 have emerged via xperiancers.

“The software worked fine but when we started integrating it with some of the network specific apps it threw up a few issues which we’re working to fix. It’s all minor tweaks really (extending the battery life and speeding up aspects of the software), but we want to be sure that when we ship this it is as good as it should be and that you don’t have to constantly upgrade the software as we iron out these wrinkles,” is what a post on the site states.

Moreover, it also points out that the new launch time frame for the Windows Mobile-based handset is the first week of January. For what it's worth, there should be a wide range of enthusiasts that can hardly wait for the phone to be launched. Especially since the X2 comes with a series of great enhancements over the older XPERIA X1, including a capacitive touchscreen, an 8-megapixel photo snapper, and Microsoft's new Windows Mobile 6.5. There are only a few weeks left until January 2010 is here, so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
