On March 14, XOLO is set to make official a new smartphone powered by an Intel processor, said to be the “fastest smartphone ever,” now rumored to be unveiled as X1000, provided that leaked benchmarks with it are real.

The handset was spotted in AnTuTu as X1000, and managed to score 12603 points with its processor clocked in at 2GHz, supposedly the recently unveiled Z2580 chipset in Intel’s Clover Trail+ lineup.

The handset was spotted in the benchmark with Android 4.0.4 loaded on top, though it might get a taste of a newer platform version either before launch or soon after.

Apparently, XOLO also started teasing some of the smartphone’s specs on its Facebook page, such as the fact that it will sport an HD screen capable of delivering a 312 ppi pixel density and that it will support full HD video playback.

There’s no telling on whether the phone will indeed be unveiled as the X1000 but, given XOLO’s teasers regarding a so-called Project X, it wouldn’t come too much as a surprise if it did.

The smartphone is also expected to feature at least an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, along with 1GB or 2GB of RAM and a PowerVR SGX540 GPU. According to XOLO, the phone will also sport a Unibody design and curved 2.5D glass.

Recently, the phone was said to be powered by the older Intel Medfield processor, the same as Motorola’s RAZR i, but the difference in performance (the RAZR i scored a 6175 in AnTuTu, it seems) suggests that this might not be the case.

With a Clover Trail+ Z2580 CPU inside, the upcoming XOLO smartphone might indeed prove the fast device that the handset vendor is teasing, though it remains to be seen how well it will fare on the market when compared to rival handsets such as the upcoming Galaxy S IV.
