XOLO has just announced the upcoming availability of its first Android tablet, the XOLO Tab. Indian customers will be able to purchase the tablet soon for only Rs 13,499 ($205/€155).

According to AndroidOS, XOLO Tab will ship with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box. Not sure if this is good news or not, but XOLO’s tablet will not be equipped with a cheap MediaTek chipset.

It appears that the Indian company has decided to include a Qualcomm 8225Q Snapdragon chipset, which features a quad-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz.

Even though it’s not the most powerful on the market, some claim that Qualcomm’s CPUs are superior in comparison with MediaTek’s.

It is also worth mentioning that XOLO Tab will come equipped with an Adreno 203 graphics processing unit, which is a bit obsolete at this moment. In addition, it packs 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory.

Although users will notice that they only have around 2.5GB of storage at their disposal, XOLO has also included a microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

The most interesting feature of the tablet is the fact that it supports 3G and voice calling. This means that users will be able to make and take calls using the XOLO Tab. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity are included as well.

XOLO Tab sports an 8-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display that supports 1024 x 768 pixels resolution and a 4,000 mAh Li-Ion battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.

On the back, the slate features a mediocre 2-megapixel photo snapper, while in the front, there’s a secondary VGA camera for video calls.

XOLO has confirmed that its first tablet will hit shelves sometime this weekend and customers will be able to get it only in the White color option. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
