Indian company Xolo has just introduced its first octa-core smartphone that will run the new Hive UI, XOLO 8X-1000, but it looks like this won’t be the only device that will go on sale in India in the next couple of days.

A brand new, unannounced Android smartphone has just been listed on Xolo’s official webpage, along with full specs and price tag. The XOLO Play 8X-1200 will be available in India for no less than Rs 19,999 ($325 / €245) outright.

However, there’s a high chance the smartphone will be priced slightly cheaper when it goes on sale at various online retailers, so keep that in mind before dismissing it due to the high price.

Considering the rather steep price tag for the Indian market, the Play 8X-1200 should be a high-end smartphone, or at least a much better device than the recently introduced XOLO 8X-1000, which was priced at Rs 13,999 ($230 / €170).

At first glance, the XOLO Play 8X-1200 does seem to be a much better handset than the 8X-1000, as the smartphone is equipped with a 2GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592T processor, as opposed to the latter’s 1.4GHz octa-core CPU.

The good news is that the smartphone will ship with the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system out of the box, but sadly, this device does not seem to run the new Hive UI recently launched by Xolo.

On the positive side, the smartphone offers dual-SIM capability, as well as 3G HSDPA (21Mbps) and Wi-Fi connectivity. It also provides users with FM Radio function, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with A-GPS support, and USB on-the-go.

The powerful octa-core processor is complemented by a Mali 450 graphics processing unit (GPU), 2GB of RAM and no less than 32GB of internal memory. Unfortunately, the phone does not seem to feature microSD card slot for storage expansion.

On the back, XOLO Play 8X-1200 boasts an impressive 13-megapixel camera with PureCel sensor, autofocus, dual-LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, while on the front there’s a no less impressive 5-megapixel camera with BSI sensor for selfies and video calls.

Another selling point of the high-end XOLO smartphone would be the 5-inch OGS (One Glass Solution) capacitive touchscreen display that features full HD (1080p) resolution and 441ppi (pixel per inch).

The smartphone is powered by a decent 2300 mAh battery, which should provide up to 600 hours of standby time or up to 24 hours of talk time (up to 12 hours in 3G mode).
