14 DAY TRIAL // Indian company Xolo launched its first smartphone to run the new Hive UI last week, but a few more Android handsets leaked online as well.
One of these unannounced smartphones that we spotted on the Indian OEM’s website was the XOLO Play 8X-1200, which was priced at Rs 19,999 ($325 / €245) outright.
However, the handset wasn’t available for purchase on Xolo’s website and the company did not share any details on availability either.
Even though we suspected the smartphone would go on sale very soon, without any exact release dates confirmed, we could not pinpoint the launch date of Play 8X-1200.
The good news is that Xolo has just introduced the Play 8X-1200 smartphone in India, which doesn’t come as a surprise at all given that the handset has been listed on the company’s website for almost a week.
Unfortunately, we still don’t know when exactly the smartphone will be available for purchase and which retailers will add it to their portfolios. Still, potential customers should know one thing, Xolo announced that the Play 8X-1200 should go on sale for no less than Rs 19, 999 ($325 / €245), exactly the same amount listed on its website last week.
Specs-wise, there are no differences between what we’ve reported last week and Xolo’s today announcement. For those who are still not aware of XOLO Play 8X-1200’s hardware configuration, here is a quick rundown of its features.
First of all, the smartphone will come equipped with a powerful 2GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592T processor, which is complemented by a Mali 450 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.
XOLO Play 8X-1200 packs 32GB of internal memory, but there’s no mention of microSD card, which means you won’t be able to further expand storage.
Moreover, the handset has been confirmed to sport a 5-inch full HD OGS (One Glass Solution) capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution.
There’s also an impressive 13-megapixel photo snapper on the back with dual LED flash, autofocus, PureCel sensor and full HD (1080p) video recording. In the front, Xolo’s high-end device features a no less impressive 5-megapixel camera that’s perfect for selfies and video calls.
The Play 8X-1200 offers dual-SIM capability and comes packed with 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, USB on-the-go and GPS with A-GPS support.
It’s also worth mentioning that XOLO Play 8X-1200 ships with Android 4.4 KitKat operating system out of the box and it’s powered by a 2,300 mAh battery.
