Indian OEM XOLO has just taken the wrap off its first Windows Phone handset, the Win Q900s, which is supposed to hit shelves in early July.

However, Lava Mobiles’ premium brand is mostly known for its Android smartphones, which is why the company is looking to step up the game in this area with a new high-end device.

The folks over at GSMArena have been recently tipped on XOLO’s Android smartphone roadmap for the next few months, which apparently includes the release of an innovative handset very soon.

That’s something new for a change, as Indian OEMs are in no way associated with innovation with very few exceptions. Well, it appears that XOLO wants to be one of the few exceptions, as the company plans to launch a very powerful smartphone in the coming weeks.

First of all, XOLO’s upcoming flagship smartphone is supposed to run a customized ROM based on Android KitKat operating system.

The operating system will include a brand new Hive UI that XOLO has been working on for a couple of months now. According to a source familiar with XOLO’s plans, the new user interface is meant to offer a unique set of features and improvements over the ones already existing in the Android operating system.

In addition, the Hive UI seems to have a very powerful feedback system integrated, which will allow XOLO users to get in touch with developers much faster and offer their thoughts on the new UI.

They will also be encouraged to ask for new features that they would like to be implemented into the new UI, and eventually have them integrated if their ideas prove to be feasible with the developers’ plans.

But this is not all. It appears that XOLO’s engineers are now working with the community to bring wonderful themes to the new Hive UI, as well as a new set of icons.

Specs-wise, the XOLO smartphone is said to be equipped with an octa-core processor, probably provided by MediaTek, and 2GB of RAM. The handset will also sport a 5-inch HD (720p) capacitive touchscreen display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating for extra protection.

Last but not least, the tipster also claims that XOLO plans to release this high-end smartphone in India in the second week of July, but an exact launch date is not available yet. There’s no word on price tag yet, but we will keep an eye out for more details on the matter, so stay tuned.
