Mobile phone maker XOLO has announced a new Android-based smartphone for the market in India, namely the XOLO A500S, which should become available for purchase in the country in a matter of days.

The new mobile phone was announced with a price tag of Rs. 6,999 ($114 / €86), and should be launched in no less than four different color variants, including Black, Blue, Red, and White.

However, users should know that the new mobile phone is only a mid-tier device, packing a 4-inch WVGA display, along with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor inside.

The new XOLO A500S was also announced with a Mali 400 MP GPU, as well as with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory.

Furthermore, it sports a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes, as well as dual-SIM capabilities, XOLO announced.

In fact, the company notes that the new handset will provide users with the possibility to stay connected with both SIM cards at the same time, a recent post on AndroidOS.in reads.

On top of that, the smartphone will land on shelves with a series of exclusive applications loaded on top, including the XOLO Secure (Anti-theft app), which enables users to protect their A500S handsets from data loss or theft.

The XOLO Secure software was designed to back up all call logs and SMS messages, while also being capable of tracking the phone’s location remotely.

The specs list of the new device also includes a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, a VGA front camera for making video calls, and a 1400 mAh battery.

XOLO A500S is only 9mm thin and was unveiled with Google’s Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system loaded on top right from the beginning. Users interested in the purchase of the new device should keep an eye on this space for additional details on its availability on the Indian market.
