XING, the Hamburg, Germany based social network for professionals has revealed that it has reached the 10 million users mark. The company says that its previous quarter was its best in terms of growth in users and revenue.

"XING, the social network for business professionals, today announced that it has recently passed the ten million registered user mark," the company announced.

"XING currently has more than ten million registered users, 4.2 million of whom are from German-speaking countries where the platform is successfully building on its market leadership," it said.

Considering its origin, it's not surprising that 42 percent of the ten million registered users are from German-speaking countries. However, the social network is in a strong position in a couple of other markets, notably Spain and Turkey.

There are 1.5 million XING users in Spain, according to the company, one of its biggest markets outside of Germany. The site has seen strong growth in Turkey as well where it now has close to 1 million users.

It's probably not that surprising since Germany has one of the largest Turkish immigrant populations in the world, estimated at 3.5 million. XING has established offices in both countries to manage the growth.

XING has also said that the second quarter of the year proved to be its best yet. Not only did it see the largest growth in user numbers in its seven-year history, it was also the most profitable to date.

“The latest growth figures are proof that our user-oriented strategy was and is the right course to take," Stefan Gross-Selbeck, CEO of XING AG, said.

"We’re sure that our recently launched product offensive will help us to drive the company’s success going forward as the optimized usability and new features make it even easier for members to network anywhere, anytime,” he added.
