When building a high-performance computer system, there are a couple of things that need to be considered, prior to the assembly part. One of these things is related to the system's power supply unit, as users need to establish how much power the components will require to run at an optimized level. On that note, XFX, a leading vendor of computer graphics cards and computer peripherals, has recently announced the introduction of its new 850W Black Edition Power Supply Unit, specifically designed to provide computer enthusiasts with an alternative to a high-performance, energy-efficient PSU that can power today's high-end components.

“The new XFX 850W PSU is a logical progression to the XFX line of graphics cards and motherboards,” Eddie Memon, vice president, marketing, XFX, explains. “XFX is known worldwide for its dedication to the gaming community, and adding a superior power supply that targets the unique needs of gamers enables us to further reinforce that relationship. Most important,” Memon adds, “XFX is known for its style as well as its performance. Our engineers were tasked with creating a best-in-breed PSU that also exudes a whole new level of cool. The sleek case and XFX green glow are quintessential XFX.”

The new power supply was initially showcased back in May, this year, but the company took its time before making it official. The PSU is designed to deliver 850W of continuous power and comes with support for the latest ATX12V and EPS12V standards. It boasts a single 12V rail and the entire unit has been featured with a 135mm green fan for cooling.

Designed for computer enthusiasts looking to build themselves a new, high-end computer system, the new NVIDIA SLI and ATI CrossFireX-ready PSI will be available with a five-year warranty and a price tag of about US$200.
