14 DAY TRIAL // Gaming cases are something that won't go out of fashion until PCs themselves do, no matter the reports about a slowdown in PC demand. XFX has just released the Type 1 Bravo enclosure.
XFX actually didn't have a presence in the gaming case arena until now. The company is a division of Hong Kong-based Pine Technology Holdings Limited and is, instead, known for video cards, power supplies and motherboards.
The XFX team wanted to expand beyond the bounds of those three sectors though, even if the desktop industry as a whole has slowed down because of tablets and laptops.
The Type 1 Bravo is meant to act as a flagship product that will enable the company to establish a tentative foothold in this sector.
So it's not such a surprise that, in addition to the basics, the case would possess aesthetic embellishments.
Among those embellishments are a sloped top, a perforated front, and an edgy, opaque side panel with a red bar on the lower side of it.
There is enough room inside for all graphics cards, even the thickest and longest from NVIDIA (GeForce GTX 780/780 Ti, Titan, GTX 690 dual-GPU) and Advanced Micro Devices (Radeon R9 Series, Radeon HD 7990 dual-GPU).
This was both important and predictable, because XFX is best known for its video cards, and it has own-brand models of all those adapters on sale.
Three 5.25-inch bays exist (with hinged valves for disc trays), eight 3.5-inch bays (with mounting holes for 2.5-inch drives), a front ventilation spot for 200 mm intake, 140 mm bottom intake, two 140 mm exhaust fan mounts at the top (or used as one 200 mm fan spot), a 140 mm rear exhaust and another two 140 mm exhaust sockets on the side panel.
Finally, the front I/O panel has two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0/1.1 ports, and HD audio jacks (headphones and microphone).
All in all, the XFX Type 1 Bravo gaming case measures 518 mm x 232 mm x 562 mm / 20.39 x 9.13 x 22.12 inches and weighs 10.4 kg / 22.9 pounds. Its price is of $130 / €96.
