Given the fact that the whole world's been waiting for quite a long time now in order to see yet another “world's fastest graphics card” being released onto the market, we're going to see plenty of Radeon HD 6990 implementations being unveiled, including one for traditional AMD partner XFX.

Unfortunately, much as in the case of most of the other 6990 versions being unveiled today, XFX has done little in terms of board customization, their solution providing, apart from the exterior design, just about exactly the same features as specs as the reference board.

The Antilles-based graphics card also leverages the enhanced video capabilities enabled by the Enhanced Quality Anti-Aliasing (EQAA) and Morphological Anti-Aliasing (MLAA) technologies, while also featuring 16x angle independent anisotropic texture filtering and 128-bit floating point HDR rendering.

As expected, the XFX Radeon HD 6990 also offers mini-Display Port and DVI interfaces, supporting the EyeFinity multi-monitor technology, with a maximum resolution of around 2560x1600 inches per display.

Additionally, the device also sports AMD CrossFireX multi-GPU (dual card) technology, thus enabling users to set up some pretty impressive systems, if they can actually afford purchasing multiple graphics solutions of this type.

The card also comes equipped with a built-in HD audio controller, offering an output-protected high bit rate 7.1 channel surround sound over HDMI, as well as support for AC-3, AAC, Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master Audio formats.

Plus, similar to the other Radeon cards, the new XFX Radeon HD 6990 leverages the overclocking capabilities enabled by the AMD PowerPlay power management technology and the PowerTune intelligent power management hardware, enabling a dynamic power management and the fast and easy adjustment of various power and performance-related settings.

Since XFX has not provided pricing details for its new card, we'll have to assume that, given its close resemblance to the reference model, it will be available for around 700 US dollars as well.
