XFX announced the launch of a new graphics card that is aimed at hardcore gamers demanding the absolute graphics performance from their computer systems. The new XFX graphics card is based on the Nvidia 8800 GTS graphics processing units and while the card design is following closely the reference design lines, this new card is offering a performance boost of over 15 percent
when compared with the standard 8800 GTS 320MB.
Thanks to high graphics core and video memory clock settings, the new XFX GeForce 8800 GTS is well ahead of other extreme performance offerings from both XFX and other manufacturing companies. All XFX cards from this generation are SLI capable so users expecting high level of performance will be able to use not one but two and even more cards. Apart from the multi card setup, they are also coming with integrated support for HDTV, HDCP while being RoHS compliant.
Thanks to its Dual-Link DVI interface, the 8800 GTS is able to perfectly display high resolution images on even large flat panel displays, as it natively supports resolutions up to and including 2560X1600 on two displays.
On the inside the XFX GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB is equipped with 96 stream processors and when talking about clock speeds, the new Fatal1ty card is very close to the frequencies typically found only on cards from the 8800 Ultra editions. The graphics processing units is clocked at 650MHz, while the video memory is DDR3 compatible and it is clocked at an impressive 2.0GHz. The memory interface is 320-bits wide and the 8800's shaders clocks are set to 1500MHz. According to the news site
fudzilla, coupling the 3200bit interface with the 2GHz frequency gives this card an available bandwidth of 80Gb per second.
Like the entire GeForce 8 family of products, this new 8800 based graphics card from XFX is DirectX 10 and Shader Model 4.0 compatible. In Europe this card will be priced at around 329 Euro, but there is no word of its availability yet.
