Sprint's subscribers who were expecting their Android 2.2 Froyo update for Samsung Intercept have seen their expectations crumbled to dust as the update ended up bricking their devices

Scheduled for a December 17th roll-out, the update was immediately pulled out by Sprint in an attempt to limit the damages already done to a high number of its subscribers.

Fortunately, the guys over XDA Developers have worked ever since to find a solution to unbricking Samsung Intercept smartphones for users who were attempted to upgrade to Froyo using Sprint's update.

Thanks to XDA Developers user Whosdaman, a fix is now live on the aforementioned forum, which promises to undo the bricking process.

However, only users who have attempted to upgrade and already have Android 2.2 Froyo on their bricked Samsung Intercept devices are eligible for this fix.

Obviously, users will need to download an 'update.zip' file and save it on their SD card. Then, insert the SD card in their Samsung Intercept, remove the battery and then put it back in.

Furthermore, users have to boot the device into recovery mode, by pressing and holding the Volume Down, Talk and End buttons until a contextual screen comes up.

Select the option to “Apply SD card: update.zip” and wait for the phone to unbrick itself and boot up. The entire process may take up to ten minutes.

The software update was tagged with version number S:M910.05.S.DL05, while the build version is Froyo.DL05.

Samsung Intercept's Android 2.2 Froyo update changelog is detailed below:

- Sprint Navigation (TeleNavGPS); - Dropped calls after unacknowledged call waiting; - Force Close message when opening up contacts.

In addition to the above, the update is said to fix the issue with accessing google.com and phone contacts.

Install instructions, as well as a download link for the fix are available on XDA Developers forum thread.
