2K Games and Firaxis have recently released a small update for the PC version of their turn-based tactical squad-based strategy game XCOM: Enemy Unknown, which fixes an issue with saves.

It appears that there was an issue with the save file after installing the latest expansion pack for XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Slingshot.

Many players reported that all their saves previous to the Slingshot DLC were corrupted and would not load properly or not at all.

According to 2K Games, the latest patch is meant to fix this problem, which was only affecting the PC version of XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

The small patch fix (80MB) for the save file issue after installing the Slingshot FLC is now up on Steam, so it should download automatically. Check out the patch notes below:

“Slingshot Content Pack will no longer cause the game to think pre-existing saves are corrupt. All previous saves should now work properly.”
