Take-Two Interactive has confirmed that its recently released XCOM: Enemy Unknown game is a success in terms of sales as well as reviews and that more DLC will come out for it in 2013.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown was eagerly awaited by fans of the original strategy series, as well as by those who already knew about the stunning games made by developer Firaxis.

Sadly, seeing as how it was released right before the crowded holiday season and that it focused on a niche strategy experience, not a lot of analysts expected the game to perform well.

However, according to publisher Take-Two Interactive, XCOM: Enemy Unknown is a success both in terms of reviews from critics but also in terms of sales.

“The title is proving to be a critical and commercial success,” the publisher said, via CVG.

As such, the game will receive not just the DLC packs that have already been confirmed for it, i.e. Slingshot and the mysterious second add-on, but also “additional content planned for 2013.”

You can expect to hear more about 2K’s future plans about XCOM: Enemy Unknown soon.
