Slingshot Content Pack introduces new character and new maps

The development team at Firaxis and publisher 2K Games announce that they are planning to launch two downloadable content packs for the single-player component of their strategy game XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

The first piece of DLC for the game will be called the Slingshot Content Pack and will include a new operative for the player to control, recruited from the Triads.

Players will be able to “divert an alien ship’s course, and do battle with the aliens in the skies over China.”

Gamers who buy the new content package will get access to three new maps, each of them linked to one unique mission that the Council asks the player to perform in order to get precious rewards.

There are also more voice and character customization options to use on the player squad and there are new tactics that are opened up when the new character is used.

Firaxis has made it clear that it will also launch a second DLC pack for XCOM: Enemy Unknown but has not offered clear information on what it might include.

Presumably the game will receive more missions and probably another group of specialized operatives.

Fans of the game discovered that new characters and new missions will be added to the game last week when they explored the Global Achievement page for the game on Steam.

The reaction to the DLC announcement on the official forums of the game has been one of disappointment, as the players seem more interested in getting access to a patch that fixes some of the issues they have highlighted and balances the game experience.

Those who want to get more XCOM: Enemy Unknown content right now can buy and download the Elite Soldier Pack, which was included in pre-order copies of the strategy game, which includes color customization and the classic soldier design.
