Sensible World of Soccer is a revamped version of the the 96 / 97 original with the same name, that launched this week on
Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Hours after the game's release (along with its 400 MS pointer sibling, Tempest) Codemasters forums were filled with complaints of a serious bug in Sensible World of Soccer. The game has since been pulled with no clues as to when it'll be made available
again.
And the situation hasn't changed much yet.
Tempest is still enjoying having its well deserved spot within the full games list starting with T on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, while only
God knows what Sensible World of Soccer is enduring over at Codemasters' studios. They've probably cracked it open to look for the bug. Be brave SWOS, be brave....!
As Xbox 360 The Official Magazine reports...: "This was due to a bug in the game that signed you out of Xbox Live and refused to let you sign back in until you manually returned to the dashboard. With an explosion of complaints on Codemasters forums and MajorNelson.com, Microsoft's damage control protocol has kicked in as they swiftly yanked Sensible Soccer from Marketplace."
Sensible World of Soccer is a revamped version of the the 96 / 97 original, featuring HD visuals, online multiplayer modes over Xbox LIVE, a Career mode and even a game mode where you can lead a team to the Champions League. A tutorial mode has also been set up, to bring players on a competitive level.
The game however, keeps all of the original touches that made it the genre defining title it is, only introducing optional enhancements to bring the game up to date. As such, both original and updated custom graphics modes are available, allowing players to experience the game the classical way, or in high definition. Well, "were" available, since the game still isn't back where it belongs.
