With Windows Phone 7 devices almost in users' hands, Microsoft is ramping up the development of applications for the new mobile operating system, and providing resources for the graphical interfaces of the upcoming mobile applications is one area where the company made a new step not too long ago.

We're referring here to the Windows Phone 7 Design Templates project, which was started on CodePlex by the Microsoft Expression Blend team.

What this idea is all about includes sharing XAML based resources for the building of some consistent user's experiences on the upcoming Windows Phone 7 operating system.

Moreover, it seems that all of these resources are based on the UI Design and Interaction Guide for Windows Phone 7, which was released officially several weeks ago.

“A project for sharing XAML based resources for creating consistent Windows Phone 7 user experiences. The templates are based on the UI Design and Interaction Guide for Windows Phone 7.” the development team states.

“With these templates you can easily create common Windows Phone UI layouts by simply copying and pasting the desired page. We’ve taken care of the margins, styling, and custom controls that may not be available in the platform,” the team adds.

Since the Microsoft Expression Blend team already took care of various aspects of the layouts, the development of new solutions based on these new resources should be greatly simplified.

All the necessary info on what the Windows Phone 7 Design Templates is all about can be found here.

We should note that these are not the first resources of the kind that Microsoft makes available for those interested in the development of applications for the Windows Phone 7 operating system.

Not too long ago, the software company released a series of 28 layered Photoshop template files that enabled developers come up with various Windows Phone 7 application layouts.
