It's not nearly as larger than life as it ought to be

You would think that a computer case named after one of the most prominent Roman emperors would be the sort to flaunt the most obvious visual accents on the market. Not to mention that it should be large and ornate.

That is not the case here, however. At least as far as the “ornate” part goes. Instead, X2 decided to surprise people, creating a sophisticated chassis that doesn't overload people's eyesight with colorful embellishments.

The design works surprisingly well, with multi-strip side vents on both sides and a front panel which will charm users with its angular, oblique lines.

Most importantly, the Trajan is a case which, despite being large enough to hold ATX boards instead of just mini ITX and micro-ATX, can easily be carried to LAN parties or other events. It's a tower case that is half the size and weight of others like it.

The X2 Trajan chassis

It features an all-black paint job, which means that it is colored black both on the outside and on the inside. Not at all surprising, since full color designs have come to be expected from high-end enclosures.

The frame is mostly made of SECC 0.6 mm thick steel, but also includes a mesh intake vent on the front, along with seven more on each side.

You would think that a thin case like this would have trouble with the better, larger video cards out there, but that is not the case at all.

In fact, you can install everything up to the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 and Titan cards, as well as AMD's Radeon R9 290X and 7990. All the while, power is provided by a standard ATX power supply.

Looking at the X2 Trajan case in the photos, you wouldn't think that all of that stuff can even fit. But the 5.25-inch bay is set vertically, and the number of 3.5-inch / 2.5-inch cases is not as large as on other, hardcore models. Still sufficient for most needs, nevertheless.

Finally, the fan intakes are dust-proof (the pictures make that obvious enough) and the I/O panel is set on the side, offering one USB 3.0 port, two USB 2.0 connectors and a pair of audio jacks (audio and microphone).

Availability and pricing

The X2 Trajan desktop PC case should already be shipping for the tag of $70 / €60. If it isn't, it will be put up for order soon enough.
