The problem with most gaming mice is that they can usually only be used by right-handed people, unless they are specifically made for left-handed ones. The new one from X2, however, does not have this problem.

You see, the Genza mouse launched by Dutch company X2 Products is ambidextrous. Meaning that it has a symmetrical body, skewed towards neither the right nor the left.

It does mean that people won't, perhaps, enjoy the same level of wrist comfort as on a mouse made with special palm and finger rests. But it's not like the wrist ends up hurting from the use of mice all that often.

Anyway, the new Genza mouse, while ambidextrous, can still be customized a bit, thanks to its interchangeable side panels and adjustable palm rest.

The latter is especially important, as it can offer your hand some extra support to lean on, reducing the strain on your wrist joint during a long gaming session. Those who play real-time strategies and first-person shooters should benefit from that particularly much.

The physical design isn't the only “gaming” feature either. Indeed, a fancy design would not be enough to qualify a peripheral as such.

Thus, the memory profile storage is quite important. Onboard storage for different key commands is a staple of gaming peripherals, mice and keyboards alike.

Any piece of software can store macros (well, not any software, but still many peripheral drivers), but only mice with onboard storage can be taken from home to home, to LAN parties, or friends' get-togethers and allow you to immediately set about playing something with the same settings you've become familiar with.

Then there's the built-in lighting system, which lets the Genza settle on one of four different colors (LEDs), the same number as the on-the-fly DPI adjustments (3500 dpi maximum).

Finally, the Denza mouse has a 1.8-meter / 5.90-foot cable (USB), a braided one (much more flexible than a rubber-coated cable).

Sales of the X2 Denza ambidextrous gaming mouse should begin soon, later this month in fact (August 2014, on the twenty-fifth or thereabouts) for the price of $59.95 / €44.95. A two-year warranty will be included.

Any computer running Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 will recognize the mouse, with or without the bundled software being installed. You should still do it though, since it offers some fine tuning options that the mouse can't do independently.
