The peripheral uses an Avago sensor and infrared technology to link to PCs

Some really weird consumer electronics have been launched over the decades, and while the new mouse from X2 is not nearly as bizarre as, say, a chicken suit, it does have one weird design element: the ball near the rear.

It only becomes apparent if you look at the mouse from the side. Beneath the palm rest, near the back-most edge of the peripheral, is what looks like a red ball in a black and white receptacle.

Before you ask, there isn't anything uncanny hidden in that part of the mouse. It's just a way to give some style, so to speak, to the way the internal hardware is arranged.

Speaking of which, the hardware is quite high-end, especially the AVAGo 3,500 DPI 20G infrared sensor, which should provide a very high level of mouse responsiveness and accuracy.

A USB 3.0/2.0 cable is used to establish connections to a PC, or whatever else may use a mouse and happens to have a Universal Serial Bus.

There is integrated memory as well. Specifically, the new X2 Genza Gaming Mouse (which happens to be called X2-M3003-USB) has 64 KB of built-in memory.

There, seven functions are stored for the independently programmable keys included in the peripheral: right and left clicks, scrolls wheel, back/forward buttons behind the scroll, and two thumb keys.

Furthermore, X2 implemented its Nano-tech bearing technology, which promises a long lifespan for the device, through means that X2 did not elaborate upon.

That said, the X2 Genza X2-M3003-USB mouse boasts the ability to set personal LED colors via the DPI adjustment function.

Finally, the scroll wheel is made of aluminum, so that it “lasts literally forever.” Such were the words that X2 used in its press release.

Not exactly sure if the newcomer is quite as stealthy as it's supposed to be, though. X2 says it employed a “stealth design,” but it's not like black and metallic-silver-grey mice haven't been built before.

Anyway, the newcomer is compatible with Windows PCs (Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8) and Apple Mac systems. Its price is of $59.95 / €44.95 and accounts for the mouse itself, the packaging and a multilanguage owner's manual. Sales in China have already started, but European countries have to wait until next month (September 2014).

All sold mice are backed by a warranty of 2 years, plus a service program. Better than a vague “lifetime warranty” which can mean anything from “forever” (unlikely) to “until the next mouse in the series comes out” (more often than not).
