After seeing the great impact that the latest movie in the “X-Men” franchise had at the box office, it's safe to say that the interest in the mutant series is going only in one direction: up. Reports indicate that Bryan Singer's movie has become the most profitable in the franchise so far.

“X-Men: Days of Future Past” has surpassed the highest grossing film in the mutant series, the 2006 “X-Men: The Last Stand,” which managed close to $460 million (€337.2 million) at the box office. Just in its second weekend, the movie reached over one hundred million dollars, a third of which came just from domestic theaters.

By doing so, the movie unofficially became the top-grossing title that 20th Century Fox and Marvel have produced together, if we don't take into account things such as inflation. Making the movie cost two hundred million and the final number after last weekend exceeded the five hundred million dollar mark, making it a huge profit for both studios.

Considering that it's also one of the oldest hero franchises, predating even the Spider-Man series, with its first movie coming out as early as 2000, X-Men was the start of the new superhero movies that have today overtaken the summer market as well as the winter holidays.
