14 DAY TRIAL // Britney Spears and Demi Lovato are the two additions Simon Cowell made to the judges panel on X Factor for its second season, but the job is already proving too much for the former, it has emerged.
Right after Cowell & Co. made the official announcement of the new lineup at the Fox television upfronts a short while ago, speculation began on whether Britney was ready for such a stressful job.
Since her 2008 meltdown, the pop star has been living a sheltered and very controlled life, with her father acting as her conservator and managing every aspect of her life.
X Factor would be the first time Britney would do a live show, especially one that would also imply this kind of pressure for viewers at home, who can get very passionate about their favorite contestants.
Star claims in its latest print issue (story via CB) that this pressure will most certainly take its toll on the fragile Britney – in fact, the first cracks are already starting to show.
“Doing X Factor may lead her back into meltdown territory. She gets extremely nervous and anxious. She’s hard on herself and not very confident,” a source close to the situation tells the mag.
Because of her fragile state, she doesn't need extra stress – and, sadly, this is precisely what the show will do, stress her out.
“For her, it’s all input as stress. This is a lot of change at once for Britney. She’s coming undone,” the insider explains.
“She really is starting to seem loopy and not right,” another spy reveals, explaining that she's yet to recover completely from her 2008 meltdown.
“She is so happy one minute and sad and crying the next. Her emotions are fragile,” the spy adds.
Other sources claim that Britney is having second thoughts about doing X Factor, now that she's had time to think it through.
Fearing she won't be up to the task, she's already regretting accepting Cowell's generous offer.
“She is very scared and overwhelmed by the thought of it. Now that she’s gotten financially stable again, she is starting to let loose and let old demons come out,” another tipster dishes.
