14 DAY TRIAL // Ever since I heard her sing the role of Christine in “The Phantom of the Opera” at the Royal Variety Show in 2011, I completely changed my mind about Nicole Scherzinger. Her recent performance on the X Factor UK final should only confirm that she is a true professional.
Nicole and her protégé Jahmene Douglas performed “The Greatest Love of All” on the show when, completely out of the blue, her mic went out.
After signaling the crew that she was having technical issues, Nicole grabbed Jahmene’s microphone and sang her part, after which they passed it back and forth among themselves until the end of the song.
Even though the host Dermot O’Leary tried to laugh off the malfunction afterwards (“Biggest show on TV and we can only afford one mic.”), Nicole seemed genuinely upset about the whole thing.
To her credit, both she and Jahmene (who sadly did not win) handled themselves in a most professional manner, while also putting on the performance of a lifetime.
