X Factor Promises Winner over $5 Million (€3.73 Million) Deal

With X Factor USA now down to the final 5, a new report indicates that whoever wins it will be set for life – or, at the very least, for the next 5 years, for the duration of the contract. Producers are offering the winner $5 million (€3.73 million) in advance, it has emerged.

Even before the show started in the US, word had gotten out in the press that producers were offering the winner a $5 million (€3.73 million) contract for 5 years.

However, that was just the top of the iceberg, as the saying goes, TMZ reports. As it turns out, the winner will get said amount as an “advance” on the contract.

This means that the winner actually stands to make a fortune, if he or she is lucky and willing to work hard enough to sell albums.

Before the show, “each contestant signed a contract which states that if they win the show, they will get their $5 million [€3.73 million] over a period of 5 years... $1 mil-per-year [€747,216.6]” TMZ informs.

“According to the contract, obtained by TMZ, the $5 mil is an 'advance' on any earnings the winner brings in from record sales, the official tour and more, during the 5 years,” the e-zine further says.

“But the earnings are not capped at $5 mil – if the performer generates more than $5 mil during the length of the deal, that person will get a cut of the profits. The more they sell, the more they rake in,” the celebrity publication reports.

Moreover, the singer will also be able to cash in on live performances outside the official X Factor tour shows, amounting to “30% of royalties from each gig – and that money does NOT count toward the original $5 mil,” TMZ notes.

Of course, making this kind of money means working very hard for it and, above all, making an impression on the people at home so that they turn out for the live shows and to buy albums.

As of now, the biggest problem with singers who get a career boost from shows of this kind is that, shortly after the show they're on ends, they fall off the radar or, at the very best, manage to keep only the fans they make on the show – with some notable exceptions.
