14 DAY TRIAL // On the first part of the final round of the weekend, the four X Factor finalists got to prove their “X factor” with a duet with an established artist. While all performances were amazing, Rebecca Ferguson's duet with Christina Aguilera was probably the best.
Rebecca had already impressed judges and audiences with her impressive, powerful voice on previous live shows this season.
Still, last night's duet with Aguilera, who's long been dubbed by fans The Voice, proved that she has what it takes to be on the same stage – and footing – with one of the best voices of our generation, it is being said.
Ferguson and Aguilera did the latter's “Beautiful” ballad – a powerful song about how real beauty is on the inside, and is so strong that no amount of criticism can annul.
Never before has Rebecca sang a song so like her, her mentor Cheryl Cole said in the presentation video.
After the live performance, a clearly emotional Rebecca listened how Christina sang her praise, in what was probably one of her highlights on the show.
“She’s incredible, I saw a tape of her before I came here, singing a Nina Simone song and I was pretty blown away, she’s a pretty unique talent,” Christina said of the aspiring star.
As gorgeous and as well received as the duet was, it did not come without some gossiping about how Aguilera actually snubbed hopeful Rebecca and was nice to her only when the cameras were rolling, UnrealityTV writes, citing reports in the British media.
“Insiders says that after she finished her duet with the Liverpool mum of two, Christina stormed off stage and didn’t speak to Rebecca or any of the other contestants,” the e-zine writes.
“Christina was being a diva. She folded her arms on stage, didn’t talk to Rebecca and then walked straight off afterwards,” an eyewitness is quoted as saying.
