Some women fight with the extra weight for their entire life, sometimes taking up drastic crash diets to shed pounds, only to yo-yo back to their previous weight in a matter of weeks. Singer Wynonna Judd has always had issues with her weight, but she now seems to have found the answer to all her problems – Alli, the wonder diet pill, for which she is also a spokesperson.

The 44-year-old country sensation says Alli is not all about losing weight, since it has also helped her find more balance in her life, as well as focus more on eating healthy. Quite understandably, Wynonna does not believe that taking one pill a day is key to her staying in shape, as she combines the effects of Alli with a healthy dietary plan and plenty of exercise, such as walking with her children.

Alli, which will hopefully go on sale over the counter in the UK as well (it is already available in the US), is the half-strength version of the prescription diet drug Xenical, and works as a fat blocker. Basically, what it does is stop the body from absorbing the fat in foods by eliminating it naturally. The results in clinical tests have been, so far, astounding, with slimmers registering a 15-pound weight loss when on Alli, as opposed to 10 pounds less when dieting alone.

Since beauty rarely comes with no price at all, so Alli comes with some rather unpleasant side-effects. One of the worse, and also the one that has got people harshly criticizing the drug, is diarrhea and flatulence. Or, as Glaxco says on the official page for the pill, it can induce “gas with oily spotting, loose stools, more frequent stools that may be hard to control.” Should anyone be willing to risk to go through this, the company’s advice is simple. “You may feel an urgent need to go to the bathroom. Until you have a sense of any treatment effects, it’s probably a smart idea to wear dark pants, and bring a change of clothes with you to work.” as the company says.

So far, not even the fear of embarrassing themselves in public has deterred women from using Alli in their constant fight against the pounds. Wynonna Judd is certainly one of them and, from what she says, it has all been really worth it. Below is the commercial that Judd shot for Alli, endorsing the so-called magic diet pill.
