Wyclef Jean thinks that mash-ups - blends of totally different songs - are more than just a hot trend, according to the Associated Press.
"The way that we're moving forward toward music, it's all about using music together," the rap artist has recently stated in an interview.
"We have hip-hop, we have rock, (but) all the kids now, we all listen to the same thing. If you're listening to rock, you're listening to rap", he added.
Jean, who is currently working on his album and doing charity work in Haiti, is set to perform at Randall's Island in Amsterjam, on August 20, at a concert that will celebrate mash-ups.
Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snoop Dogg, Fat Joe, Garbage, 311 and Reggaeton star Hector El Bambino will also perform at the event.
The 33-year-old rapper and producer has also talked about The Fugees period and the possibility of a band reunion.
"It's not on the back burner; we all are talking and are on good terms. That's one of the mysterious projects. (…) It's always fun. ... The Fugees, it's like your high school band, it's always fun" the artist said.
Mash-ups have become very popular on the Internet, where one can find blends of artists from Beyonce and Coldplay to Jay-Z and Linkin Park.
Wyclef Jean (born October 17, 1972 in La Plaine, Haiti) is a rapper, producer, and former member of the superstar hip hop trio The Fugees, known now for a series of high-profile hit singles.
