A resident of Columbus, Ohio has admitted to killing a man in a wrong-way crash. Matthew Cordle's confession was made on video and posted to YouTube.

In the clip produced in August and posted online in September, Cordle details his experience with drunk driving. The footage can be viewed below this news article.

Cordle describes killing Vincent Canzani in a June accident after having too much to drink. According to News Net 5, he got behind the wheel and steered the car into incoming traffic.

The video, uploaded by user “Because I Said I Would” was made so that Cordle could raise awareness about the consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol.

The user name belongs to a start-up company which allows people to set goals and carry them to completion.

However, Cordle's admission of guilt will now prompt a reopening of the case. He explains in his video that he is experiencing depression and guilt over taking a human life.

Daily Mail reported that the victim, 61-year-old Canzani of Columbus, was a Navy veteran who had become a father two months before the June 22 crash.

According to Franklin County prosecutor Ron O'Brien, while Cordle was investigated at the time of the accident, he was never charged.

He claims that he spoke to attorneys who assured him about handling “similar cases where the drivers got off.”

“They were convinced that they could get my blood test thrown out and all I would have to do for that was lie,” he recalls.

However, he claims that he will not contest any charges brought against him, urging other drivers not to drink and drive.

“When I get charged I'll plead guilty and take full responsibility for everything I've done to Vincent and his family.

“I can't bring Mr. Canzani back, and I can't erase what I've done, but you can still be saved. Your victims can still be saved,” Cordle says.
