According to an official NBC report, Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak will be joining the cast in "The Biggest Loser: Celebrities," shortly after being eliminated from the popular TV show Dancing with the Stars. The last celebrity left standing will receive US$1 million for the charity of their choice.

MacDailyNews posts the official NBC press release, which reveals “an all-new cast of characters hit the gym on NBC's 'The Biggest Loser: Celebrities' with the two-hour season premiere Tuesday, April 14, 2009 (8:00-10:00 p.m., ET).” The report continues with the repeated announcement of the 14 stars making their bid to lose the highest percentage of their starting body weight, as announced the evening before. An excerpt from the official NBC report is available just under the list of contestants.

The cast includes:

• Jason Alexander • Kirstie Alley • Roseanne Barr • Aretha Franklin • Artie Lange • Rush Limbaugh • Michael Moore • Rosie O'Donnell • William Shatner • Jessica Simpson • Sally Struthers • Mike Tyson • Oprah Winfrey • Steve Wozniak

Alison Sweeney ("Days of Our Lives") returns as host of the series, which challenges and encourages overweight contestants to shed pounds in a safe and recommended manner through comprehensive diet and exercise as they compete for a grand prize. The unscripted and life-altering reality series gathers contestants from across the country and all walks of life to face real-life temptations, while being provided with approved weight-loss skills and resources in an effort to help them transform their bodies, health - and ultimately - their lives. Contestants work out under the supervision of professional trainers Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper.

Softpedia note

Hopefully, Woz is better appreciated on “The Biggest Loser: Celebrities” than he was on “Dancing with the Stars,” where he performed interestingly, to say the least, aided by professional dancer Karina Smirnoff. Of course, we also hope Woz just takes this opportunity to improve his image, while not making a habit out of participating in TV-hosted contests. After all, we want to refer to Steve as the computer genius that he is.

The TV show has four top-selling fitness DVDs and a "Biggest Loser" meal plan available for home purchase, as well as a burgeoning online lifestyle club, according to the NBC report.
