There's no way to sugar-coat such a question, so I'll just come straight out and ask you: if you had a kid, would you let him/her hang around Britney Spears? I for one wouldn't be too thrilled with the thought that a woman who was strapped to a gurney and taken to hospital after taking one of her toddler sons hostage is anywhere near my child, let alone teaching them how to dance. I'm not saying that Brit's professional dancing skills are questionable (although it's likely she is a little rusty from all the lack of exercise in the past... well, months) - but even on medication and under her dad's careful supervision, the popwreck has a history of public mental breakdowns. It may be therapeutic for her to teach kids, but I really hope there's someone supervising her round the clock while she's at her favorite haunt of late, the Millennium Dance Studios.
The kids who go there for dancing lessons are reportedly thrilled with her. Which is probably true, given that we're dealing with very young kids who are not old enough yet to be acquainted with her history and questionable parenting skills. Plus, I hate to sound like a materialistic bitch (too late), but does anyone else find it funny that Britney has lost custody of her own children but is allowed to teach and spend time with other kids of a similar age? It does sound kind of heartbreaking and sad that she has to be around other people's children instead of investing her time and efforts in bonding with her boys. But I suppose it's just one of those paradoxes surrounding Britney's strange life.
People magazine even went to talk to some of the kids Britney teaches, and guess what? They're all singing her praises. I don't know if this is a publicity stunt, the real thing or a bit of both, but it sounds pretty convincing. "Today, first we were dancing slow, and then faster and faster... Then we did the fish-move and lots of other fun things", said one of the girls in Britney's class. Her mother is also quoted as saying that "Elissa won't stop dancing now, that's all she wants to do. Britney has really inspired her". Yes, well, let's hope the kid doesn't learn how to read and write soon, or else she'll see her idol's reputation shattered into a million small pieces. What can I say - Britney is an inspiration to us all, only in an entirely different way.
