Wortmann has just started shipping its latest mobile personal computer, though it could be said that this new product isn't exactly that similar to the previous models, at least aesthetically. The company has completed the development of its latest Terra Mobile Series member, a product that stands out amongst its peers thanks to its departure from the regular design conventions. The laptop bears the name of Terra Mobile Altro and has already started to make ripples on the IT market.

In terms of design, the Astro is unique because, unlike the machines previously unleashed by its maker, it features an enclosure with a smooth surface and rounded edges, among other things. The insides, on the other hand, are not particularly astonishing, though they are still more than noteworthy for an ultrathin, especially one that can live on a single battery charge for more than most netbooks currently on sale.

At the heart of it all lies an Intel Core 2 Duo SL9400 central processing unit with a clock speed of 1.86GHz. This chip is backed up by 3GB of RAM and paired with the Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500M integrated graphics, which feeds the 13.3-inch display whose native resolution is of 1366 x 768. In addition, the laptop utilizes a hard disk drive with 120GB of storage space.

Other components include a built-in webcam, 3G, Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi, a fingerprint reader and an accelerometer.

All of the aforementioned parts and chips are crammed inside a frame measuring 335,8 x 226,9 x 21,8 mm, whereas the total weight is of 1.6kg. Finally, the entire rig is actually capable of living for up to 8.5 hours off a single battery charge (66,6Wh), though a weaker, 35Wh battery is also available. Finally, the Terra mobile Astro is already on sale and customers can place their orders by visiting the official product page.
