Even though it doesn't usually cause a stampede when it releases a new produce, mobile PC or otherwise, Wortmann AG seems especially bent, this time, on not letting things go before it shows off a complete collection of mobile computing solutions. Last week, not overly long after it had unveiled the AMD-powered Terra Mobile 1745, the PC supplier came forth and somewhat ruggedized the PC market with its Terra Mobile 1430. Now, seeking to also establish itself on the Calpella front, the company has unleashed the so-called desktop replacement known as Terra Mobile 1772.

While the previous two Terra Mobile laptops focused on affordability and endurance, respectively, this newest model aims to give consumers a portable solution that comes with all the capabilities of a full-sized desktop. As such, it has a configuration centered on the Intel Core i5-430 central processing unit, whose clock speed is of 2.27Ghz.

This chip is backed by 3GB of memory, a hard disk drive with a storage capacity of 320GB and, most importantly, the capable GeForce GTS 250 graphics card. This adapter has 1GB of dedicated memory and delivers high-quality video to the mobile computer's 17-inch screen, whose maximum resolution is of 1,680 x 1,050 pixels.

The connectivity and Input/Output (I/O) options of the Wortmann Terra Mobile 1772 include an HDMI output, Gigabit Ethernet, an ExpressCard slot, a 2.0-megapixel webcam, as well as 802.11 a/b/g/Draft-N WiFi. Finally, the notebook runs on a six-cell battery and will come equipped with a DVD writer, for video playback and optical storage.

The Terra Mobile 1772 comes pre-loaded with the Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit operating system and with a two-year warranty, all at a price of 1,199 Euro. Further information on the device, as well as on the company's other products, may be found on the official website.
